Democracy in Action reports it has been monitoring the voting process for or against the departure of the country's four northern municipalities to all polling stations since its opening at 7: 00 a.m. According to observers, all polling stations have been closed over time, so at 7:00 p.m., while it was not reported in any case where citizens have been waiting in line to vote.
DnV emphasises that the “voting process throughout the day has been characterised with the gross lack of interest by citizens to participate in the vote, despite the fact that in January over 20% of citizens had rightly signed the petition for the departure of mayors in the four northern municipalities of Kosovo. DnV estimates it was a lost opportunity for citizens to express their will to pave the way for new mayors of municipalities who would enjoy representative legitimacy. Throwing the vote is the first democratic instrument through which the citizen creates connections and participation in local policies and then is likely to seek accounts from the elected”.
“Ven to mention non-adequent selection of objects that have played the role of the polling centres, followed by the collection of several locations in a single space, the deployment of the high floors of municipal buildings, the Improvisation of offices or narrow rooms as locations, as well as lack of heating or lighting at the locations organised in the container. However, today's process runs smoothly and without any incident”.
Do the Albanians remain at the helm of Serb majority municipalities?
