Elbert Krasniqi, Minister of Local Power, calls on the EU to lift the measures on Kosovo, because he says even despite the possibility of leaving the mayors in the north, the Serbian List and Belgrade ordered boycotting the voting process. He thus says that Kosovo cannot lag behind.
Minister Krasniqi stresses that Kosovo has implemented the Bratislava agreement and Kosovo must move forward.
“We secured the infrastructure and the opportunity for citizens to express their democratic will. The Serbian List and Belgrade, on the other hand, once again ordered the boycott of the voting process in 4 northern municipalities despite calls not to do so by the international community”, Krasniqi says.
The time has come, now more than ever, for the EU to lift unjust measures against Kosovo. Kosovo has fulfilled its part of the Bratislava Agreement”, he says.
“We must move forward. We can no longer hold back from Serbia's repeated destructive behaviour”, Krasniqi concluded.
The CEC has confirmed that the dismissal of four Albanian leaders in the north has failed because of the non-participation of citizens at the polls.
