Ukrainian Parliament Approves New Law on Furilization

On 11 April, 283 lawmakers in the 450-member Parliament voted for military mobilization, lawmakers Yaroslav Jelesnyak and Olexiya Honcharenko said.
A provision for demobilisation of those currently serving in the armed forces has been removed from the law, and this movement is expected to cause outrage between Ukrainian troops and their families. The provision for privatisation by the law was backed by 227 lawmakers.
The furniture bill was adopted in the first reading on February 7th.
On April 2nd, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law lowering the age of mobilization from 27 to 25.
Ukraine has been in a state of war since February 24th, 2022, the day Russia began its largely unprotested invasion of the neighboring state.
Former Ukrainian Army Commander General Valeriy Zaluzhniy said in February that Ukraine needs 500,000 new recruits to strengthen its ranks. /rel/
