On Thursday in Brussels, the next meeting is expected to be held towards finding a solution to the dinar issue between top negotiators Besnik Bislim and Petar Petkovs.
In this meeting by the European Union, they have said the dinar issue will be the main topic of negotiations, not of association.
However, according to EU spokesman Peter Stano Association as the matter is present at each meeting and that Kosovo has the obligation to form it.
“Establishing the Association of Serb majority municipalities is a task now and a time for Kosovo, so it must be fulfilled urgently. This has been repeated several times by the European Union, at the highest level, by European leaders. So if Kosovo fails to meet this, then this will not be a positive sign of the will to move towards normalisation, which is now linked to Kosovo's path towards membership. This is the first one.
The other is that the meeting of the chief negotiators this Thursday is focused on other issues, which were discussed last week and the preliminary one in Brussels, to find a solution mainly to the issue, implications or consequences of the BEC's decision to use the dinar.
So, association as such is not one of the main topics, but as a matter is present at each meeting, and all of our interactions with partners in Kosovo, as it is one of the conditions that urgently must be met, without further delays”, Stano said.
By contrast, European Union envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue Miroslav Lajcak has said yesterday that at this week's meeting between the parties in Brussels, a solution is expected to be found on the Kosovo Central Bank's (BQK) Central Bank rule issue.
