Spain will continue to take a similar stand towards the Republic of Kosovo, against membership in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
This has been confirmed today in an answer to the clankosova.tv, from the Spanish Foreign Ministry.
” As for the Committee of Ministers, where Spain's position is expressed, what we can say is that Spain maintains its position on Kosovo*”, it is said, among other things as it conveys the country's name to the placard.
According to the ministry, Spain also does not see another way in resolving disputes between Kosovo and Serbia.
” ... and supports the dialogue led by Union High Representative”.
On Tuesday, the Council of Europe General Assembly is scheduled to discuss and vote on Kosovo.
The Assembly's 2/3 votes are needed to recommend the KiE Ministerial Council for Kosovo's accession.
After this vote, for full membership of the Republic of Kosovo in the Council of Europe, only the last step, which would be the decision of the Ministerial Council, would remain.
The first opportunity to make that decision would be to meet on May 16th of this year.
Remember that The Kosovo rapporteur's report, Dora Bakoyannis, from the Council of Europe's Committee for Policy and Democracy, received green light.
Through this report it was found that Kosovo has met the conditions for becoming a full member of the Council of Europe.
