The OSCE mission in Kosovo has invited northern Serbs to participate in the voting process for or against the departure of Leposaviqi chairmans Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Northern Mitrovica, to be held on 21 April.
In a media report, O The SEU has also requested from the Central Election Commission (KQZ) to avoid innovative approaches, such as the use of cameras in locations.
“Therefore, voters have the right to expect their initiative to respond in line with relevant legislation. The Central Election Commission (KQZ) has supervised the process by respecting the legal framework and would be advised to avoid innovative approaches, such as using cameras at polling stations, which would require more full scrutiny and proper consultation”.
Whatever the recent disappointing political party statements discourage voters from exercising their democratic right will remain voters in each municipality deciding whether to vote for the withdrawal of mayors on April 21st. The participation of all communities in the processes and democratic institutions is essential for facilitating normalisation”, the announcement said.
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has called on Serbs in the north not to listen to the calls of the Serbian List, who sought not to participate in the April 21st vote on the departure of mayors in four municipalities in the north.
According to Osmani, this boycott comes at the order of Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq. It has asked the international community to react and punish Serbia's president for the pressure he is putting on Serbs.
Even the German Embassy in Kosovo has estimated that boycotting the voting process for the dismissal of mayors in the north is not in the interest of citizens. This embassy has estimated that the democratic nature of the process will be damaged if citizens attend Serbian List calls for boycott.
