The census, family economies and residences in Kosovo will take place from April 5th to May 17th.
The Serbian List of Kosovo Serbs, who enjoys the support of official Belgrade, accused Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti of <x0-year-old Serb impression” in Kosovo.
Honored citizens...we wish to send a clear message to Albin Kurti and those who support him that the Serbian people will not participate in the next false census in his organisation, with which he wants to confirm his shameful success in the expulsion of Serbs”, the Serbian List said on Facebook.
But according to the Law on Population Recording, Family Economics and Homes, each person can be fined between 30 and 2,000 euros if he refuses to provide information requested by the recorder.
Fines are even bigger, up to 20,000 euros, for businesses.
The Serbian list said participation in the <x0) processes organised by Kurti would be the greatest humiliation for our people, at the time the same denied Serbs the right to pensions and salaries, prevented normal functioning of health and social benefits, lifted the right to vote, arrested and persecuted Serbs, seized municipalities by force, militarized Kosovo's north...”
It was referring to a Kosovo Central Bank regulation, which on February 1st banned the use of the dinar for cash payments, after setting the euro as the only official currency in the country.
“Krahas this, Kurti wants to attack Serbia too with this census with several requests for war retaliatorys, which prevents every Serb from being even more part of this” process, she said, referring to Kurti's statement, which said on March 30th that Kosovo authorities are preparing for Serbia to be held responsible “for crimes committed during the war in Kosovo, which are war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide”
During the last census in Kosovo, held in 2011, the process had not been held in four Serb majority municipalities in the north and was partially boycotted in other Serb-run municipalities in Kosovo.
Boykot had happened after authorities from Belgrade had asked Serb residents in Kosovo to participate only if the census is conducted by the UN mission in Kosovo, U n NMIC. /rel/
