Serbian List Chairman Zlatan Elek has said today that the position of this political party is not to go to the upcoming referendum, where it will be decided for the departure of four mayors, as he points out, not legislation in northern Kosovo, because Albin Kurti did everything that referendum would not succeed.
Elek at the media conference expressed confidence that their attitude reflects the attitude of the Serb people in northern Kosovo.
He also stated that he had not seen any referendum conducted “with the presence of cameras”.
Elek stressed that the Serbian List and Serbs were constructive, wanting to participate in the referendum process to replace mayors who lack legitimacy, which they witnessed during the signing of petitions, Kosovo-Online reports.
He commemorated that mayors were elected on April 23rd last year in elections where 1567 voters voted, out of 13 Serbs. This is only 3.47 percent of registered voters.
That election included 0.029 percent of Serbs, although those in the north make up more than 97 percent of the population, Elec underlined.
He has also said the administrative instruction, which Pristina approved on 5 September last year, is difficult to implement because of the obstruction of mayors of municipal congregations.
He is particularly concerned that citizens in Leposavic are threatened with rejection of social benefits and pensions by Pristina authorities.
These threats include local Serbs, people wonder whether they will be removed from the list, because they are threatened with signing the petition, and we also have information that some people have been removed from those lists. The Serbian list in the referendum called by Albin Kurti does not participate because he did everything he could to prevent that referendum from succeeding. I think that attitude reflects the attitude of the Serbian people in northern Kosovo”, Elec said.
