The Serbian list against the April 21st vote, Knaus: If the EU wakes up, there will be war

Gerald Knaus from the European Initiative for Stability says the crisis in Kosovo that fostered violence in the north “will continue “, that this “cannot surprise anyone” and that if Germany, France, the EU does not wake up, there will be new wars.

Knaus wrote so in “X”, taking the lead over the Serbian List's yesterday declaration, which went against the April 21st vote for the possible departure of Albanian leaders from the leadership of four northern municipalities.

Which cannot surprise anyone”, Knaus wrote.

He wrote that the current EU and US strategy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue has failed.

“The current EU dialogue strategy for Serbia-Kosovo has failed. Belgrade has since openly rejected any recognition strategies. Belgrade reiterated that, again and again: there is no agreement. There never was. The EU (and US) strategy is based on the wrong analysis: that the current EU membership process gives the EU influence in Serbia”, Knaus wrote.

“doesn't do it anymore. An apparent reason for the collapse of EU levers is the decline of any reliable EU accession policy for everyone in the region”, he added.

All this makes this the most dangerous moment in the Balkans since 2001”, writes Knaus.

He says that “too much across the EU still don't see or claim they don't see this”, adding that this is not resolved with “The growth plan”.

Instead, the main players in the region expect new violence and prepare for it. If Germany, France, the EU do not wake up, there will be new wars. And a truly catastrophic failure of the EU”, Knaus wrote.
