The American Agency for Cyber Security and Infrastructure, CISA, said hackers supported by the Russian government used their access to the Microsoft programme's email system to steal correspondence between officials and technology giant, said in an emergency directive that was released Thursday.
In the directive, dated April 2nd, the agency warns that hackers were exploiting details of the e-mail sharing in an effort to penetrate Microsoft's client systems, including an undesigned number of government agencies. CISA refused to say which government agencies were affected. The Microsoft company did not immediately respond to a demand for comment.
