Gerald Knaus of the European Initiative for Stability has expressed optimism for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe. He confirmed that Strasbourg expects important weeks during which it will be voted for Kosovo's membership in the KiE.
In a commentary video, he said that “Kosovo has been expecting much during this moment and has been encouraged by serious votes at the Paris Assembly weeks ago”.
The key “Week in Strasbourg, where the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will vote for Kosovo membership. There is reason to be optimistic that the last European democracy that is not yet in the Council of Europe will soon join. In the interest of human rights of all”, Knaus writes on X.
Kosovo membership means protection for Kosovo Kosovars and Serbs to get access to the Court for Human Rights and implies recognition of the status of multiethnic democracy, he added.
