Kosovo is not ready for membership in the Council of Europe, and the vote to invite Kosovo for membership is “turp” for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry announced.
The vote in favour of Kosovo is a disgrace to the PSSE, which has confirmed its commitment to devaluation international legal norms and the destruction of the foundations of interstate relations in Europe”, Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a comment published on the Ministry's page.
At the same time, there was no unanimity among MPs. Thoughts are also divided into delegations of countries that have once recognised Kosovo's independence. This shows that there are still sound forces on the continent capable of resisting reckless, supporters of Kosovo's design and their non-progressive policy”, End of comment.
P The SSE approved the recommendation to invite Kosovo to membership in the Council of Europe.
The vote was held at the plenary collection in Strasbourg, approval was approved by 131 votes, 29 against and 11 abstentions.
The final decision on membership remains with the SPSE Committee of Ministers.
