“Freedom House” report, Ymer: Kurti has launched witch hunts against judiciary in defence of persons under investigation, Kosovo is reflecting as non-democratic state

The organisation “Freedom House”, headquartered in Washington, has published today the annual report on Kosovo, in which it estimates that the current Government of Kosovo has obviously failed to improve the internal functioning of the state or effective implementation of reforms. By listing scandals and corrupt relatives of Kurti Government, this report is viewing corruption as [...]
Political analyst Visar Ymer in one Pronouncement for Periscope has described the “Freedom House” report as extremely disturbing. According to him, Kosovo is currently seen as a state that has serious government corruption, which has hybrid democracies, attacks on free speech and freedom of journalists, and no respect for human rights.
“Freedom House has been one of the organisations whose reports of government exhibits, and especially Prime Minister Kurti, have quoted them extensively when there were positive assessments of Kosovo. Of course Freedom House is an extremely creditable organisation for the work he does, and his reports are taken seriously by the democratic states of the West. Kosovo is currently seen as a state that has serious government corruption, which has hybrid democracies, has attacks on free speech and freedom of journalists, and has no will for respect of human rights. This is extremely disturbing”, He said.
Umer told him. Periscope that the U.S. State Department and Freedom House don't include things in the report of suspicion they don't have based on and that there's been an unprecedented public attack from power so that it's raised its voice to these relatives. According to him, Prime Minister Kurti has launched a <x0-feet witchage” against the judiciary in defense of persons under investigation.
It's obvious that during the year 2023, we've been confronted with different information from the signalers through the media on corruption for the Kurti government. Of course, some of them have become part of the public discussion. Constatement of these allegations by creditable international reports increases the suspicion of them and shows that what has really been talked about as a matter of media and opinion remains. Because these institutions, such as the State Department and Freedom House, do not include things in the report of doubt they have no basis for. On the other hand, we had hysterical reactions from the power to protect these by organising an unprecedented public attack on the judiciary, the media, the opposition, and anyone else who has spoken up about these relatives. Such a reaction does not occur when there is nothing to hide. Suppose the Investigative Commission for State Reserves is extremely irresponsible to representatives of power. The prime minister has launched public witch hunts against the judiciary (this trial that has been sharply criticised even in the KiE report on Kosovo membership) in defence of persons under investigation. All of this shows that corruption relatives are likely to be witnesses, and certainly punishable. And there's a flagrant failure of the government first to stop corruption and then enable its punishment”Said Ymer Periscope.
Concerning the case Shemsi Haziri's dismissal from the position of Special Investigation Unit (former-Task anti-corruption Force) officer within the Kosovo Police, leading investigations into Ambassador Martin Berisha and Nagip Krasniqi, who was named in the “Freedom House” report as issues of concern, who has sent negative signals for the opinion on fighting corruption, Ymer said such findings are very harmful to Kosovo because they reflect it as an extremely undemocratic state.
The first important thing is to note that this case appears to be a gross misuse of the political position to prevent justice. Because Mr. Haziri is meant to prevent the investigation process. It's one thing the government believes in the innocence of the people appointed by it. But it is a serious violation if official positions are used to prevent the investigation. And it must be punished as such. When these things, violations, are found by the State Department, such a report certainly defines how the US is seeing governance and Prime Minister Kurti. I think these findings of the report should be taken very seriously by the government, but we as taxpayers and voters in this Republic. Add it then to the next very serious conclusion, which says the Government has no will to respect human rights. Such findings are very harmful to Kosovo because they paint a mirror for Kosovo as an extremely undemocratic state”Says analyst Ymer.
Kosovo is again listed in the group of hybrid regimes, “transitional democracy”, in the organisation's report “Freedom House”.
Democracy in Kosovo, according to estimates and measurements of this organisation, has undergone no change. Kosovo, both in the preliminary year and this year, has been rated at a score of 3.29 points, on a scale of between 1 and 7 points, where 1 is the lowest degree of democracy. / ALBINA ZARIQE- PERISCOP
