EU spokesman Petter Stano, in a response to Rtv21, said the parties should find solutions as soon as possible to pave the way for normalising relations.
On April 4th, EU emissary Miroslav Lajcak received Kosovo and Serbia's top negotiators at the meeting for another round of discussions on a temporary solution to address the implications of Kosovo Central Bank's recent regulation of cash ready for the Kosovo Serb community. It was already the fourth meeting on the subject in the last five weeks. Since the parties could not bridge their differences in their original proposals, the EU facilitator presented ideas on which a temporary solution could be based. It was agreed with the parties that further discussions will be based on ideas presented by the EU. The EU emissary plans to invite the parties back in the coming weeks. Let us remember that a temporary solution must be reached without further delays and a permanent solution to implementation of the Agreement on the road to normalisation must be negotiated, Stano said.
Kosovo's chief negotiator, Besnik Bislimi, has agreed to find a solution on the basis of a proposal by emissary Lajcak, in which the possibility of compromise is mentioned.
Seeing the inability to reach a compromise, Mr. Lajcak has issued a proposal on his part, a consolidated proposal, for which we believe it is a constructive proposal and on the right path to find a solution which mostly suits Serbian citizens in Kosovo, but at the same time also respects the BEC rule as a whole. Still, the Serb side has not been ready to reflect on this proposal and have required additional time. The next meeting is expected to be held after two weeks in Brussels again” had declared Bislim after the last meeting in Brussels.
Meanwhile, Serbia's chief negotiator, Petar Petkovovic, accused the Kosovo side of failing to show “sufficient options” for an agreement on the dinar issue. The next meeting in Brussels among the chief negotiators is scheduled to be held within 10 days.
