Former Commander KLA, Sylejman Selimi before court on war crimes charges

During the final hearing of the case in which former Kosovo Liberation Army Commander Sylejman Selimi and former fighter Jahir Demak are being accused of mistreating a detained person in Scipiered Licoc as a war crime, prosecutor Florije Shamlli has quoted witness A as saying during his testimony that [...]
“We chance to help didn't have, while the reason the person was beaten was that he wasn't a supporter of KLA”, he was quoted as saying.
Shamlli, who is a prosecutor in the case of “Drenica 1”, has said that with the Geneva Convention it is important to know when the case occurred.
Selimi has denied the work he is accused of.
We've held the sentence, as my pre-director, Jahiri, put it. It's hard to keep a punishment for a job we haven't done. We held prison without knowing why we held it. With a fake witness saying I beat up someone, but who I beat up”, Selim said.
He has added that in the midst of the Serbian offensive, he has not been able to deal with beatings at the most difficult time of war.
I fought honest and this is the pride of my life”
While accused Jahir Demak has said the testimony of the witness is false “that it has only confirmed EULEX to give itself public publicity, to act as if they were dealing with major cases, since they were KLA members and had public positions”.
In this case, Sylejman Selimi and Jahir Demak are charged with being mistreated as a war crime in connection with a detained person in Scikyright Licoc.
The defender of Jarhir Demak, Mexhi Syla, has said he has expected the prosecution to bring new evidence to this case, but has brought no new evidence.
He also said that the prosecution's charge is based solely on one test: in the statement of witness A, who has said he saw a person from Shipoli but whose identity is unknown.
Sylejman Selimi's defender, Artan Kerkin, has also said witness statements are contradictory.
In the prosecutor, according to Cekini, he had said the victim had been convicted of selling sheep to Serbs, while the next time in court in 2014 he said the reason he was mistreated was that he had insulted the Liberation Army.
The defence has added that one cannot be punished with only one trial.
This case had been unjudiced since 2019, when it was retriald by the Supreme Court. It has been partly turned into retrial over the charge against Sylejman Selimi and Jahir Demak for mistreatment in Likoc of Skyeraj ? This location that has long witnessed by the Specialised Prosecutor's Office has cited it as a hearing in court reviews at The Hague Special Chambers. /Time.net/
