A 12-year-old child has been arrested under suspicion that he has injured three other peers at a school in Finland on Tuesday, Reuters reports.
Three 12-year-old wounded have been taken to the hospital. The arrest of minor suspects has occurred peacefully, and the child is now in custody. No immediate details have been made about the identity of children or the condition of the injured.
The shooting took place at the Viertola school in Vantaa, on the outskirts of Helsinki capital, which has about 800 students from the first grade to the ninth and a 90-member staff, according to the local municipality.
The country's prime minister, Petter Orpo, has said the shooting was deeply shocking.
Previous shooting in schools in Finland has turned attention to weapons policy in the country.
In 2007, Pekka-Eric Auvinen shot and killed six students, the school nurse, the director, and himself using a gun in Yokela High School, near Helsinki. A year later, in 2008, Matti Saari, another young man, killed nine students and a member of the school staff before he killed himself.
Finland has strengthened weapons legislation in 2010, presenting a test capacity for all applicants for gun licenses. The age limit for applicants was also changed from 20 to 18. There are more than 1.5 million licensed firearms in Finland, with some 430 thousand arms holders at 5.6 million.
