It is unlikely that there was more severe confrontation and a more brutal language explosion than today between the Minister of Agriculture and journalist Lirim Mehmetaj, the online confrontation that seems so far to date ended with indictment and countersuit.
Mehmetaj, chairman of Albanian Post, reported on a scandal with a local meat company “Apetiti” which, with what has been reported so far, although still without an official conclusion, has bought meat from Brazil and managed to cheat into documentation through the Kosovo State Food and Veterinary Agency (AUVK) reregistering it as Kosovo-born to sell it as such in Albania.
More than 600 tonnes during 2023 alone, Mehmetaj reported as he addressed Minister of Business Faton Peci, whose responsibility this agency functions.
“Get out of here and show me how it's possible to get someone so deep into the state that the institutions' documents provide them as toilet paper.”, Mehmetaj wrote, as he unveiled the document that this company, according to him, had forged through AWK.
Minister Faton Peci, without reaching his explosion of Mehmetaj, said only that “in case of confirmation of claims, all involved individuals and economic operator will face legal and administrative consequences”.
Mehmetaj, on the other hand, was mind-ridden that this scandal extends to Faton Peci, which he personally addressed as “corrupt for some money from a mean company”.
After this post, Pec broke out disproportionally by “Serbizing” Mehmetajn with labels like “Club i (Jovica) Stanisish” and “Illaccus” for what he said “would sue for slander”.
“I call on him to publicize his claims, but not just his own, but an entire Kosovo to reveal his facts of his corruption. The criminality of Stanishic's Drug Club and its decades-old installed dostas in AUV I'm running day-to-dayHe wrote Pec on his replica.
He spent several decades announcing his indictment and posted a single page claiming to be ready for the indictment, why it only appeared on page 1, and it seemed to be page 1/1, as an indication that the site had no other page.
Here Mehmetja intervened with caution: “Peci has the public as if the indictment is against me, but they are so incompetent that they are caught in every step. If you go to the indictment he published, there are no stamps or signatures of any attorneys, and the indictment is also made up of only one page, that is, only the front page, which is actually no indictment at all. You know, if you were stupid, you were.”.
Mehmetaj stood up to the harsh tones, writing that “This is just the beginning.” and that “I got you one for one.”.
“The indictment, whether you believe it or not, comes on the day when I notice the public that a corrupt chain within his ministry agency allows the sale of Brazil's meat as a fresh Kosovo ʹmish. Knowing that the indictment comes under scrutiny after 3-4 years, Peci has the idea that he turns his attention away from the scandal and forces the brains to vote on the indictment.” wrote Mehmetaj.
“But this lawsuit, otherwise the 6th, seems to be giving me power so far, it allows me to fight back. So Peci will be obliged to testify before the court that which Kosovo journalists have ties to Serbia, as he has allied on his status, until I tell you what thieves and abusers are this”, he wrote among others.
