Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti in an interview for RTK “said Kosovo has an extraordinary chance for membership in the KiE and that, according to him, there is no other case in the history of the Council of Europe that the Council of Ministers has ignored the support of the Parliamentary Assembly.
The Kosovo affair was not only massive but also deep since debate and arguments were won”, Kurti said, among other things.
And speaking of the case of the Serbian majority municipalities “Association”, Kurti said they don't want to turn the basic agreement into a tool for what is called the “Communist Association” by Serb majority.
He said Kosovo as far as minority rights are concerned has its constitutional and legal formulas as little anyone else in the world.
Speaking to the demands of QUINT states, Kurti said countries that have recognised Kosovo as a state does not take a lower stance than Greek MP Dora Bakojannis.
“The QUNT states don't ask for Kosovo less than Dora Bakoyannis, or do not put more pressure on Kosovo than that (Bakoyannis) coming from a state that has not recognised Kosovo”, Kurti said.
Kurti further said Kosovo is willing to co-operate, but stressed that we cannot expect Kosovo to be loved more than we do.
Asked whether he is willing to risk membership in the Council of Europe, if the price is movement towards association, Prime Minister Kurti said: “I do not take steps that endanger the sovereignty, territorial integrity, constitutionality and legitimacy of Kosovo”.
