Detective For Thoughts and Religious Action has held protests over the murder of the woman who was killed today in the town of Peja by her husband. Protest was held before the Women's, Peace and Security Forum.
Tuesday's protest comes after the murder of a woman in Pec, which took place only four days after another murder in Ferizaj.
Activist Liridona Sijarina has said institutions should declare emergency situations following the murder of women in Kosovo. It also experienced criticism of how this Forum is being maintained.
Any of the civil society we're here hasn't invited. This leaves us without other options, we can't stay silent while the state continues to hold conferences that are isolated and that are for a pretty filtered audience that they themselves place and completely ignore our” calls, Sijarina said.
So we call here on both Government and Presidency not to deal with us activists but to deal with the problems of this society and that is the deep uncertainty in which Kosovo girls and women live. We call one more time for the State to declare an emergency. Yesterday we complained about the murder of women, and today we were sent with news that another woman was killed in Pec. This is the situation that should alert us not only to us but also to the state. In this case, we also seek immediate reaction. Every delay from the state is killing girls and women”, she said.
