17 years from adoption of declaration for determining Kosovo status

The Kosovo Assembly on 5 April 2007 has adopted a declaration for determining Kosovo's status that supports chief negotiator Martti Ahtisaari's proposal. On February 2nd 2007, Ahtisaari submits the proposal to Pristina and Belgrade, where it said Kosovo would be a multiethnic society, governing itself in a democratic and respectful manner [...]
On February 2nd 2007, Ahtisaari submitted the proposal to Pristina and Belgrade, where it said Kosovo would be a multiethnic society, which governs itself in a democratic and with full respect for legal order, the highest level of human rights and fundamental freedoms accepted by the international world, and that promotes the peaceful and prosperous existence of all its inhabitants.
Meanwhile, on June 10, 2007, American President George W. Bush, visits Tirana, where he says Kosovo will gain independence. After several talks, Kosovo was declared an independent state on February 17th 2008.
