Only 46 MPs participated in the first attempt to vote on the draft bill's fourth amendment, while only 54 out of 120 MPs took part in the second attempt as long as the Parliament has.

This is the fourth time power is trying to vote on amendments proposed by Vetevendosje MP Visar Kornica.

The vote was also abandoned by opposition parties, the Democratic League of Kosovo, the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo.

The vote stalled on the fourth amendment, which deputy from the ruling Vetevendosje Movement party, Visar Kornica, had sought changes to take place at last February 22nd.

Corenica had demanded that three paragraphs be removed from the legislation, predicting that the right to reproduction belongs to individuals other than married couples (husbands and wives).

As a reference to individuals, he has mentioned unmarried women and same - sex partners.

Corenica demanded that this bill be withdrawn altogether because, according to him, he has <x0-effective” effect.

“I am proposive, along with a group, again we are entering a vote that will not have a quorum, the right to vote, non-vote is the MP's responsibility. Our request is to withdraw this law because of the defects it has”, Kornica said.

In October last year, after many attempts, the Assembly had managed to vote 63 by, one against and four abstentions to approve this Bill first read.

This legislation also enables unmarried women to bear children through the method of assisted fertilization known as IVF in public clinics.

This law was strongly opposed by a part of MPs.

According to the Bill, the right to use IVF also has unmarried women, over 18, who are in good health and social condition and are capable of fertilization and parental care “.

Kosovo aims to have a special department for IVF at the University Clinical Centre (QKUK). For the equipment needed for this department, the Health Ministry has earmarked 1.5m euros. / REL
