Osmani: Consistence has been reached for part of the American proposal for the dinar.

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has said the issue of the Serbian dinar in Kosovo should be resolved urgently and that there is already compliance with a part of the American proposal on the issue. According to her, the ideal would be if an agreement was reached for her in Brussels on March 19th, within the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, at the level of chief negotiators.
She has said it is very positive “that the international community, at the top of the United States, agrees not to have the dinar flow to Kosovo”.
With their help we have achieved from now on those shipments, the financial assistance coming from Serbia, to reach the euro rather than the dinars, and that I believe solves a large part of the problem we're facing in the past”.
As for the second part of the proposal, she has said that Kosovo authorities are considering ways to ensure that the aid that leaves Serbia for the Serb community in Kosovo “does not go to the hands of persons who have abused, corrupted and taken money as if in the name of citizens, but used it for organised crime. A plan to include Kosovo authorities” is being drafted for that part.
Osmani has said there is hope that soon reconciliation will be reached for the second point as well.
On February 1st, Kosovo Central Bank (BQK) has started implementing a new regulation, which stipulates that the euro is the only currency in use for conducting cash payments.
So the use of the dinar is not possible.
Serbia claims it shares aid worth millions of euros to Serbs in Kosovo and starts them with salaries, pensions and additional assistance in its currency, the dinar.
The international community has reacted strongly to Kosovo for implementing the regulation, saying a clear plan that does not harm the Serb community is needed, and that the deadline for its implementation has been very short. / REL
