US Vice President Kamala Harris has said there should be an immediate “rmation” in Gaza, as she urged the Israeli government to do more to allow assistance flow, “without excuses”.
Mrs. Harris said a six-week ceasefire would remove the hostages and create the possibility for a considerable amount of assistance on Palestinian war-torn territory, writes Foreign mediaHe's following in on Telegrafie.
She also said there is a “agreement on the table” and Hamas “should be reconciled to this”.
Her statement comes as it is hoping an agreement will be reached before the start of Ramadan.
The US had said that an agreement already is “accepted more or less” by Israel and is awaiting approval by Hamas militants.
But after the arrival of Hamas' delegation, a Palestinian official said the “agreement had not yet been reached”, and from the Israeli side there were doubts whether her delegation would also participate in the latest round of talks.
Israeli officials reportedly boycotted negotiations in Cairo on Sunday after Hamas refused their request for a full list of the names of hostages still alive.
Hamas also reportedly wants a permanent ceasefire to be part of any agreement.
