The United States' special envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, after meetings he had with the country's president, Vjosa Osmani and opposition party leaders, will meet with Prime Minister Albin Kurti today.
Government spokesman Progress Kryeziu has indicated that Prime Minister Kurti will have a meeting Thursday with American emissary Gabriel Escobar.
Yesterday's Emisari Escobar met first President Vjosa Osmani on an official visit to Kosovo. At 10:00 he arrived at the Presidencys, where he held the meeting with Osman, with which he later appeared at the media conference.
At the start of his speech, Escobar devoted several words to the president who seemed to be a message to the prime minister. He called it the main guarantor of Kosovo relations- USA.
Thank you, Mrs. President, for the warm hospitality in Kosovo. You are the main guarantor and legacy of bilateral relations between the United States and Kosovo, and thank you for that. I mean, this legacy is based on a stable commitment to security, territorial integrity and Kosovo's independence. So we're going to continue to deepen our relationships on all the lines of interest”.
While around 7:00 has met opposition leaders at a joint meeting.
But, as he was holding his meeting with Osman, a news message was delivered by Prime Minister Kurti at the Government Meeting, which Escobar would later comment.
Kurti announced they have asked the Kadast Agency to implement the Constitutional Court's decision to register the land to the Decani Monastery.
The American emissary described this decision as difficult but necessary. He cited Kosovo institutions on this occasion.
I want to mention the importance of today's monastery decision. It was a difficult but necessary decision, and we thank the institutions for all cooperation”.
A day before coming to Kosovo on Tuesday, Escobar from Brussels received some harsh remarks for diplomatic communication with Kurt, acknowledging there are cracks.
“Partnerity between the United States and Kosovo is between the American and Kosovo people, does not penetrate through a man in Kosovo, or a party. But I must say that we currently have problems in communication with Prime Minister”.
Escobar even added that not only The US has problems in communication, but it's a problem Kosovo has with the EU, too. NATO, the United Kingdom and more partners, including Albania and North Macedonia.
The American Emissar revealed the reason for his visit to Kosovo when asked why he is not going to northern Macedonia.
The situation in Kosovo is terrible, so I have to visit Kosovo”.
Here he also referred to the situation with the dinar, the decision he named “catastrophic” and “nopetent”.
Escobar has reiterated that the United States does not oppose the legitimacy of the decision, but has problems with the way it applies and the impact it has on the Serb community.
