KPM members, in reporting to the Parliamentary Commission for Media on Monday, said today they are handling Premier League's broadcasting rights case by several licensed distribution operators in Kosovo.
The chairman of the KPM Board, Jeton Mehmeti, said the letter Premier English League sent last week to Vetevendosje Movement MP Valon Ramadani has created new irregularities regarding Premier League broadcasting rights in Kosovo.
The Independent Media Commission has been taking an interest in Premier League rights in the Republic of Kosovo since September 4th of last year, and because we received a letter directly from Premier League, which expressed concern that Premier League was being broadcast unjustly on three operators that are Memory, Artmotion and IPKO. And, in that letter Premier League has confirmed to us that the right of three seasons to broadcast the league in Kosovo, Premier League has given two independent entities: one of them is called Digit Alb, which has the right to broadcast in Albanian and the other is called the Arena, which has the right to broadcast Premier League for Kosovo in the Serbian language”, Mehmeti has said.
This letter has led us to seek out the operators who have agreements with Arena, to bring back once again the authorizations they have with Arena because we want to be sure that our operators have agreement to broadcast Premier League in Kosovo”, Mehmeti has declared.
Even Besnik Berisha, a member of the KPM, said that Premier League match broadcasting rights will be reviewed by KPM.
The last secret has taken us off some dilemma, because it mentions "not in an experimental way, but very clear that Premier League did not authorize Arena to allow the Premier League match distribution. I'm thinking this should be our performance. It's a matter of treatment, so we're going to collect and treat the facts. I'm thinking in this case we have a controversy between what Premier League and Arena are saying. While Premier League is saying that Arena does not have the right to distribution, on the other hand, Arena is saying it has this authorisation of”, Berisha said.
