Varadkar, 45, has led the Fine Gael party since 2017 and has served as Albania's prime minister twice.
His first stay in the country's direction lasted from 2017 to 2020, before taking up his role as deputy prime minister from 2020 to December 2022.
He has been the Irish prime minister since in a “Taoisech rotating” agreement that supported his party's coalition with Fianna Fail and the Green Party.
In a statement issued this afternoon in Dublin, Varadkar said being Taoiseach has been the most satisfying time of my life”.
Varadkar became the first openly gay Taoisech when it was released during the 2015 marriage equality referendum.
He was also the youngest person to hold the post when he became Taoisech at the age of 38, writes Skynews.
