By 7:30 this morning, the presence of police and fire brigade was still a “strong force”, local media reported.
The fire department said they had to carry out a bold rescue in which some of the windows had to break to reach trapped residents, writes The Mirror.
But the flames were so widespread in the two - story building that some of the areas could not be accessed. It is learned that fatal victims have lived in these areas.
According to reports, 32 of the rooms destroyed are now uninhabitable.
Some residents were treated for minor injuries at the residence, while others were rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
A person is in critical condition for life. One fireman and a police officer have also been severely injured.
Fifteen others have been left with easier injuries. The operation involved the evacuation of all 46 residents of the elderly home, reports Bild. It is not known how the fire came down. The fire unit is conducting investigations into whitening the cause of fire.
In July last year, six people were killed and 81 residents were injured after a similar fire in an elderly house in Milan, Italy. Two of the wounded have remained in critical condition for life after they were rushed to the local hospital.
