Joe Biden's campaign kicked off on Saturday with a television and digital ad worth $30m in the major states in which the president directly addresses concerns about his age.
Planned to show up for six weeks at stations, including African-owned and Spanish-American stores, the commercial was released shortly after his fervent speech. The 60-second spot does not avoid what many voters say is growing concern about the president's age, writes The Guardian.
The commercial, entitled For You, opens with Biden in a more cheerful form. Look, I'm not a new guy. This is not secret”, says the 81-year-old president. “But I know how to do things for the American people”.
“I led the country during the Devid<x1 crisis, Biden says in a commercial. “Today, we have the strongest economy in the world. I've passed a law lowering prescription drug prices, limiting insulin by $35 a month for seniors”.
Later, Biden changes his attitude, citing his previous “.
For four years, Donald Trump tried to adopt an infrastructure law and it failed. I'm done. Now we're rebuilding America. I have adopted the greatest law in history to fight climate change, because our future depends on this”, he says.
Beden also said Trump “maintained women's freedom to choose”.
“Donald Trump believes the president's task is to take care of Donald Trump”, Biden says. I believe the President's duty is to fight for you, the American people and that's what I'm doing”.
The end of the ad represents an exit after a producer outside the camera asks Biden for another presentation that Biden's kidding about: “Look, I'm very young, energetic and handsome. What the hell am I doing this for?
