Syrian Human Rights Monitor said Israeli air strikes, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, targeted an arms depot belonging to the Lebanese militant group, Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran in the Gibrin area, near the vicinity of Alepos International Airport.
This monitoring group has documented violence in Syria since 2011.
Syrian Observers' leader Rami Abdel Rahman said Israeli bombings also targeted several factories in al-Sapina, and explosions have been heard west of Alepos.
He said explosions are still occurring in Syria, adding that the number of victims is expected to increase as many of the wounded have suffered serious injuries.
The number of casualties among Syrian government troops is highest, compared to previous Israeli attacks targeting Syrian areas”, the observer said.
Israel has carried out about 26 attacks in Syria since the start of 2024, the group said.
The state news agency in Syria, SANA, citing sources in the military, said the attack has left civilians dead and wounded, as well as military personnel.
The Israeli army has not commented on these attacks.
Also, on Thursday evening, the Syrian militias were attacked by Israel near Damascus, where one person was killed and five others injured, the monitoring group said. This attack hit Hezbollah headquarters in al-Bahdalia.
SANA, being summoned to military sources, said Israel carried out attacks by the director of the occupied Golan Heights, marking buildings on the outskirts of Damascus.
Israel has bombed targets in Syria in order to strike down Iranian forces located there. Israel aims to prevent Iran and its Allied militia from expanding their military influence in Syria.
Israeli attacks in Syria have intensified since the war in Gaza began on 7 October between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian group declared terrorist organisation by the United States and the European Union. rel
