He was declared dead in America, extradited to Albania sentenced to 25 years in prison

A 54-year-old Albanian has been deported to Albania after the arrest in the United States of America, which under a decision issued by an Albanian court in 2013, was declared dead in 2003 in Latin America.

According to the State Police report, this citizen, the Court of Salernos, Italy, has sentenced him to 25 years in prison for collaboration in criminal organisation, kidnapping, attempted defeat, violation of the law on arms and drug trafficking in large quantities.

“Crime Police Department, in close co-operation with DSS Agency/ O CIU (The Diplomat of Security/Criminal Investigation Unit) at the U.S. Embassy in Tirana and with the other US federal agency DHS/ ICE-ERO (The National Security Department/Agentisation of Migration and Customs), have for some time worked together for the localisation and arrest of Albanian citizens in international research: Leonard Mnella alllias Leon Colmnela alias Leonard Colmnela, 54,”- says the announcement.

Leonard Mnella, according to police, will be subject to investigation in Albania, for criminal events that occurred long ago in Albania.

The Department of Criminal Police, in collaboration with the two American agencies, through exchange information, have managed to identify, locate and arrest Albanian national Leonard Mnela, in Michigan, the United States, and have enabled his deportation to Albania.

Police say the work will continue, in co-operation with the prosecution, on the deepening investigation of criminal activities committed by this citizen.
