Decision on 24 hectares over Monastery, Decani historians call for Kurti's resignation

The head of the League of Historians of Kosovo “Ali Hadri”, the Decan branch, considers that the transfer of property to the Decani Monastery on orders of Prime Minister Albin Kurti and its implementation by the Kosovo Cadassral Agency, led by Avni Ahmeti, presents the greatest legal attack on constitutional order after independence. Following the analysis of the Constitutional Court's act on property of companies “Apico” and “Iliaria”, which is in effect of the gifts and laws of Slobodan Milosevic's time, Decani historians estimate that the time has come for Albin Kurti to resign.
Kosovo is the first case in Europe, which implements the laws of the former colonial country of Serbia and recognises the laws of the former ruling power as applicable, and the case of property in Decan is an undisputable argument. Kurt's resignation from the prime minister's post is more than necessary and too necessary for the fact that he violated his given word, and promoted that over two decades, we even recall that he for the last few days had blocked and surrounded Decani's municipality with the sole purpose of opposing the claims of Decani Monastery leader against Decani and public property, as well as in his own time and that he himself was allowed to implement Milosevic's decisions in Kosovo”, it is said in response.
The head of the League of Historians of Kosovo “Hadri” the Decan branch requests from the Parliament of Kosovo that with accelerated procedure it adopts a special law by which it will declare invalid all laws, decisions, acts and sub-laws of the Milosevic regime for Kosovo, and especially the properties of churches and monasteries that were built in Kosovo during the period 1989-1999.
The last time such a law is adopted, since the Decani property case is a dangerous precedent for Kosovo, which will open irreparable problems for Kosovo and our constitutional and judicial order. In terms of this law years ago we have also sent a formal letter to the Kosovo Assembly, but this issue remains in limbo from the current composition of the Kosovo Assembly”, the response concludes.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti has declared that they have asked Kosovo's Cadastral Agency to implement the Constitutional decision regarding 24 hectares around the Decani Monastery to lift it as a condition for Kosovo's admission to the Council of Europe.
According to him, the Government of Kosovo had two options ahead of itself to implement the Constitutional decision and to be allowed to move forward with the aim of membership in the Council of Europe this year, or to remove the Kosovo issue from the membership agenda, so the decision has been taken “by the sound reason”.
