Today, divers found the bodies of two of the six missing workers who died after the bridge collapsed in Baltimore, Reuters reported.
The troops withdrew from the Patapsco River a day after the massive container ship lost power and maneuvering before hitting a supporter on the Francis Scott Kay Bridge, completely tearing down the bridge.
A Maryland State Police official said the truck containing the bodies of two men was found near the centre of the collapsed bridge. He also said further efforts to restore the bones were suspended due to increasingly dangerous conditions.
Speaking at a press conference, Maryland State Police representative Colonel Roland Butler announced that following the collapse of the bridge at the port of Baltimore, a red truck was extracted from the water containing the bodies of two men.
The victims are 35-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes from Baltimore and 26-year-old Darlene Rania El Castillo Cabrera from Dundalra.
The four remaining workers who were part of the crew that filled the holes on the bridge road were then declared dead 18 hours after the accident.
The bridge blast, the main road along the port, closed the port of Baltimore indefinitely. By the way, it is one of the most heavily loaded ports on the east coast of the US.
Earlier Wednesday, federal investigators inspected the cargo ship while emergency crews were searching for troops.
Dali, a container ship with Singapore's flag, the length of three football fields, reported a loss of power before the crash and dropped anchor to slow the ship so that the responders could stop traffic on time.
