Begaj called to NATO Strategic Command for Balkan Situation

President Bajram Begaj paid a visit to NATO Strategic Command for Operations today, where he had a face-to-face meeting with the Supreme Commander, General Cavoli.
Global security, security in the Western Balkan region, Albania's role as a contributor to peace, security and Euro-Atlantic orientation in the region, as well as strengthening Albania's military capacities and direct contribution to NATO were some of the issues where the Begaj-Cavoli talks focused.
“Today the security situation has deteriorated, and the conflict in the Middle East, as well as the brutal Russian aggression against Ukraine, tend to spread to other regions. The situation in the Western Balkans continues to be fragile, which reminds us of how much effort and effort should be protected not only by democratic principles but also by the peace and security of our countries”, President Begaj said.
President Begaj assured General Cavoli that “Albania will always be there where NATO needs, as it has witnessed with its presence in NATO missions and operations in Afghanistan, KFOR (Kosovo), Latvia, Bulgaria, Iraq.
On the other hand, President Begaj particularly praised the investment NATO made at Kucova Air Base, which was inaugurated only four days ago, stressed that “Albania offers and welcomes NATO's commitment and investment to transform the port of Porto Romano into a naval base. ”
