On March 5, 6 and 7 of that year, after an iron resistance, legendary Commander Adam Yasar was killed, with 58 family members and relatives, including children, women, and older men.

It's been 26 years since this attack. But, for the event that changed the course of Kosovo's history, there is still no indictment, although the Special Prosecutor said he had begun investigations since 2019, reports “Justice Vow”.

It was former special prosecutor Drita Hajdari, who had declared that in 2019 they had begun investigations and that they were in the trial collection phase.

“I have verified whether the case was opened by EULEX or UNMIK or by The Hague Tribunal, and after realizing that there is no open case, I have decided to open the investigation in order to clarify this case and criminal responsibility for war crimes in concrete case”, she had declared in the media.

Contacted him now, Hajdari said that since she is no longer a prosecutor, there is no competence to answer the subject.

But in a response to “Justice Vow”, Chief Prosecutor The SPRK, Blerim Isufaj, has said it's been a long time since the investigation has been officially opened.

There is a beginning, it's not a ready time when officially, but yes, there is. I can only confirm that we have the investigation activated by decision, but correct the more”, Isufaj said.

When these investigations began and if there were suspensions in any period, no prosecutor, Valdet Gashi, has responded.

Even last March, marking the 25th anniversary of the Kosovo Liberation Army era (UÇK), The PSRK had not answered when they started and what stage the investigations were in.

According to the Criminal Procedure Code, the investigation deadlines are up to two years, but that at the prosecutor's request, this deadline could be extended for another year, or total to three years.

However, the Code also envisions certain circumstances when investigations can be suspended.

-If the defendant after committing a crime suffers from some disorder or temporary mental disability or some other serious illness,

- If he escaped,

-If there is a request for international legal assistance or there are other objective circumstances in conducting investigations which temporarily prevent the defendant's successful prosecution.

Time until the investigation has been suspended, it is not calculated in time for the implementation of the investigation, nor at the time for prescribing of criminal acts.

In 2016, the Special Prosecutor had established a Special Department for handling war crimes cases by local prosecutors. Prior to its founding, cases were previously investigated by UNMIK and EULEX prosecutors.

For macabre crimes committed during the recent war in Kosovo, justice has not yet given answers, including massacres against the Jashar family.

Thus, the Jashar family had undergone three attacks by Serb paramilitary forces. The first attack on the Jashar family was carried out on December 30, 1991.

The second attack, the Serbian paramilitary forces, had carried out on January 22, 1998. The Jashar family had also resisted this battle.

However, Iliriana, the daughter of Rift Jashar and Selvetta, daughter of Hamza Yasar, had been injured in these fighting.

The March attack had saved the Union, the son of Rifat, who managed to leave the district between March 5th and 6th, as well as Besarta, Hamza's daughter, who saw and experienced horrors until her family members were killed.

This attack has killed 22 close members along with the legendary Commander Adem Jashar, residents of the village of Prekaz, and guests of the Jasar Tower.

The Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD) in the September 2020 report, titled “War Crimes Institute in Kosovo”, has chronologically reflected the investigation and trial of war crimes in the Republic of Kosovo, where the successes and failures of all local and international institutions have been addressed, and have been competent in the area of war crimes investigation and trial.
