The trial of former Barcelona and Brazilian National football player Dani Alves, who is accused of raping a woman at a nightclub, has begun.
The 40-year-old has been in prison unconditionally for more than a year affecting the incident that took place at the end of December 2022.
Alves may be sentenced to 12 years in prison if convicted, Spanish media write, reports Express.
He had initially denied meeting with his accuser, while then said they had sex with mutual agreements.
His judgment ends tomorrow.
More than 30 people, including the former rightist protector and his wife, are expected to testify in court.
Barcelona's court rejected the footballer's request yesterday to suspend the trial so he could be given more time to prepare.
“Victima” says that Dan Alves lured him into the toilet at the Barcelona nightclub VIP section, while forcing him to have sex with him.
Former Juventu and Paris football player Saint-Germain was charged in August, and then the court ruled there was sufficient evidence to bring him to trial.
