Unionists are unhappy with the Kosovo Government's decision to raise wages and, once with the absence of the Kolective Count, which is known as “The workers' constitution”.

The chairman of the United Trade Union of Education, Science and Culture (SBASHK), Nundman Jasharaj, has warned a mass protest with the participation of about 2,000 education workers from all over Kosovo, in symbol of dissatisfaction with the Government and Education Minister Arberie Nagavci.

The protest, according to Jasaraj, will be a response to the minister's wrong approach and its inaction towards demands for improving working conditions and realising the Kolective contract.

The “will express our dissatisfaction with the ironic salary raise and we will have a prayer for MPs to vote on the civic initiative, to return rights to education workers, as a contribution to education donors of the years unjustly90-ta”, Jasharaj said.

He sharply criticised Minister Nagavci, saying she has failed to fulfil her duties as minister and that she has never left to review workers' demands.

“Nagavci never came out to be Minister of Education and to consider our demands, which must gradually be realised”, Jasharaj said.

The SBASK chairman also voiced concern that another strike like that of September 2022 is possible, due to continued identification of trade unions by Nagavci and Kurti.

I wish that the September 2022 strike would not take place, when the entire school education was on strike because of Kurt and Nagavci, who didn't find a minute to negotiate with trade unions”, he said.

The head of the Kosovo Federation of International Health, Tevide Imer, has announced that health unionists will protest before the Kosovo Assembly on December 5th 2024 to seek better conditions for health workers.

According to Imer, protesters, who are expected to be around 100 people, demanding that the government take the first step to create a real social dialogue.

Imeri stressed to “Front Online” that unionistic requirements have remained closed and that no progress has been made on certain fundamental issues, including the lack of collective contract and the incompatibility of the required coeffients.

The social dialogue is closed, there is no Kolective Contrate, there is no transparency either in commissions and meetings. The rise of the cofficiency we've been looking for, between 2, and not to be discussed, the government must reflect,” Imer declared.

It has also warned of the possibility of a general protest, which will include all federations and employees from different sectors.

“A general protest with all federations could soon come, with a certain number of workers, which let the government know that there is never a chance without sitting down to talk,” said Imer.

Demands for improving working conditions for health workers have been the focus of numerous protests over the past period, with unions demanding increased co-efficiencies, improved working conditions, and an open dialogue with state institutions.
