The idea for exchange of territories between Kosovo and Serbia”

Former US National Security Council John Bolton, in an interview for IV1, has warned that with Donald Trump's coming to power, the option for exchange of territories between Kosovo and Serbia could be restored. During Donald Trump's first administration, much has been talked about the possibility of “correction of borders” between Kosovo and Serbia.
At an open moment for this option as a final solution between the two states were both Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq and former Kosovo president Hashim Thaci.
And how this idea came up for “correction of borders”, relates to the 1st former American national security adviser John Bolton.
“Ide and a territorial exchange between Kosovo and Serbia initially suggested to me former Prime Minister of Great Britain Tony Blair. I then spoke with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, and former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci. I thought this option was in the interest of stability in the Balkans to find a solution for unfinished conflicts”, he says.
After winning the November 5th election, Donald Trump will again lead as president of the United States.
After these developments, Bolton does not rule out the possibility that the idea of exchanging territories will return to the negotiating table.
I think that during Donald Trump's second term, the idea for exchange of territories can be restored. But, for that, readiness is also required from Kosovo and Serbia in order to move forward for a better future. In my view this agreement would not pose danger to other states of the region because it would be an agreement only between Kosovo and Serbia with the consent of both sides”.
The American diplomat has also talked about geopolitical changes, where it says Russia poses a danger to the Western Balkan region.
So he has ordered Kosovo and Serbia to find courage in these circumstances for compromises.
“I doubt Russia is interested in creating unrest in the Balkan region for various historical reasons. The war in Ukraine is not doing so well, but their ambitions are greater. Therefore, it is very important for Kosovo and Serbia to find an agreement. Citizens from both countries should be willing to accept difficult solutions for a safer future. The United States cannot expect only to solve problems. My question is whether Kosovo and Serbia are engaged enough to overcome their problems”, Bolton concludes.
We remember that the main European states opposed a border-changing agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
Despite the fact that Vuciq and Thaci never offered concrete proposals, the Kosovo north, inhabited by Serb majority, has been exchanged with southern Serbia, where the Albanian population lives.
