German press for attack on Iber Lepenci channel: “Terrori in Kosovo”

German newspaper “Frankfurter Allgemen Zeitung” writes: “After the bomb attack on the channel in northern Kosovo, where the important water comes from for the functioning of two thermal power plants, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused Serbia of implosing. Belgrade dismissed this responsibility. Meanwhile, Kosovo police have arrested eight suspects during raids on [...]
Kurti's brief report quoted with the words: “The attack was carried out by professionals”. It's a new criminal and terrorist attack that we believe comes from gangs led by Serbia.” But this German newspaper stresses that the background of the attack is “still unclear” and that “Belgrade has denied any responsibility”.
Berliner Tageszeitung also announces with the European Union's response, which condemned the explosion as a “terrorist attack”. The paper also announces with the statement of EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell, who praised that it was a disgusting “, act of sabotage of Kosovo's critical civilian infrastructure”. The newspaper also reports that the “international criticisms after this attack were joined by the US, France and Turkey”, and that “and the NATO-led KFOR forces have also called for content”.
The paper writes: Kosovo's “Media believe the attacks are a beginning of a hybrid war led by Russia. Earlier this week, attackers threw hand grenades at the building of one municipality in the north, as well as another location. The worst escalation in recent years occurred at the end of September 2023, following the attack by Serb paramilitaries on a Kosovo police patrol, when about thirty armed men attacked a Kosovo police patrol. ”
While the newspaper “Frankfurter Rundschau” reports that following the Kosovo attack, “Pristina and Belgrade are accusing each other”. But at the same time the paper stresses that “Serbia is hoping in aid from Russia and the US”.
Serbia's “government has long claimed that its countrymen in Kosovo are being oppressed. She has never recognised the state of Kosovo and is trying to violate the territorial integrity and sovereignty of this country. In this context, the attack is seen as preparing the ground for this.” This is not a “Greater Serbia's dream”, writes the German newspaper. / DW
