The chairman of the Vushtrri municipality, Ferit Idrizi, has said the attack on the Iber-Lepenc channel in Zubin Potok has cut off the supply of drinking water to Vushtrri and several other cities, reports Online Economy.
Despite the return of the supply, the chairman indicated that water is not yet drinking until the results of tests by the Kosovo National Institute of Public Health (IKSHPK) are expected.
It has indeed been a terrorist attack that directly hit citizens by damaging the Iber-Lepenci channel, causing shortages of drinking water in the town of Vushtrri, but other cities of Mitrovica and Skenderaj. We are still waiting for more recent information from the Mitrovica Water Company, even though there is water in the family economies, the green light has not yet been given for this water to be used for drink, until tests are done at the National Institute of Public Health”, he said.
To cope with the situation, Idrizi stressed that emergency measures have been taken for drinking water supply.
We have secured it in co-operation with the Mitrovica Water Company. We have placed a tank in the castle and town there served citizens with drinking water. I believe that even this situation will be overcome and normalized with drinking water”, he said.
Idriz assured citizens that water supply has stabilised and that the danger has been avoided.
There's no danger right now, there's a defect in there, there's enough water, but we're waiting for information from the IKSHPK that we can start using for a drink”, Idriz said.
