Albania opens the Foreign Relations chapter, Rama: Environment, EU membership within decade

Albania today opened the Foreign Relations chapter, while at third intergovernmental conference Albania - The EU, which was held in Brussels, Prime Minister Edi Rama reiterated the ambition for full membership of the country within this decade. Rama said Albania is at the best moment of its history, while he said it is not underestimated [...]
Rama said Albania is at the best moment of its history, while he said that, however, the basic principle of merits to membership in the EU that, for the head of the government, would help our country carry out “s of the house”.
The “for us is clear, we are aware that Europe is united not only by geography, but by value, democracy, rule of law, human rights and common security. There is no doubt that a Europe with the Western Balkans will be stronger, more united and safer. So our ambition is no secret, we want to make sure that we have done our homework and that our negotiations will be closed in 2027 and, hopefully, our EU membership will be closed within this decade. It's very ambitious, but we've shared this with the Commission that has supported us during all the presidencys, and it's essential for us that by not forgetting the principle based on merit, and that principle for us is very important because it will help us do our homework for our”, Rama said.
The prime minister also expressed ambition to make Albania “Europe in the Western Balkans”, while adding that the opening of the Capitol confirmed concretely that the region is in the attention of the EU.
“We want to do as well as possible and hope to make Albania Europe of the Western Balkans because we are well-placed to do so and we need to get hold of this co-operation and partnership to do so, and we are committed to seeing the future and not the past that has prevented our country and the region from progressing enough. I say with conviction that we are at the best moment of our history and Europe and the EU is at the best moment to understand that Western Balkan countries are important to its future. This moment has closed something that we were beginning to suspect, but the EU already has a heart and we've witnessed it, it's not that big, but it's a fact that's there”, Rama said.
