Abraham: The municipalities are spending properly, but government is failing with insufficient support

Kosovo Communist Association Chairman Saban Ibrahimi has praised the budget management for capital investments on the part of the municipalities, stressing that despite challenges from central institutions, municipalities have performed extremely well.

Ibrahimi has mentioned that some municipalities have managed to spend 100% of the budget dedicated to capital investments, directly contributing to improving conditions for citizens.

“against challenges from central institutions, municipalities have performed extremely well in capital investments and the central level should get the model of municipalities for planning. We have municipalities that have reached 100% of the budget for capital investments, and these go to the benefit of citizens”, Ibrahim told “Front Online”.

He has added that the Government, which has left hundreds of millions of euros uninitiated for investments, must learn from the good practices of municipalities in budget planning and fund management.

Ibrahim has also criticised Government for its lack of direct support for the municipalities in solving problems, citing collective contracts as an example.

The central “level that some years is not spending hundreds of millions of euros and this is having an impact on improving citizen life instead of using the means for supporting municipalities with the collective contract, they are reluctant to have a fair support in the election of the problem. The Assembly is taking many financial means to municipalities”, says Ibrahim.
