According to this AAK department, technical management of this situation has left much to be desired, saying government Kurti, qualified experts, trained for years and experienced in emergency management, have been discredited and completely ignored.
The AAK's Water and Environmental Policy Department estimates that the technical management of this situation has left much to be desired. In a previous communiqué, we have raised concern about the way the Kurti Government has dealt with experts of various fields, implementing a “clean-up” unfair to almost all public companies, without any excuse based”.
Qualified “Experts, trained over years and experienced in emergency management, have been fully decrypted and bypassed. In many countries, experts are treated as a valuable national asset and not as victims of daily politics or personal interests”.
This irresponsible approach by Government severely undermines the state's capacity to handle such critical events. At a time when threats to critical infrastructure are real, it is vital that we rely on our experts and strengthen institutions based on meritocracy and professionalism”, it is said in response.
Furthermore, the AAK said that the Health Ministry statement, immediately after the attack that the water passing into the Iber-Lepenci channel is currently not clean for drink, was a reckless statement that caused panic and unnecessary confusion in citizens.
It is known that the water passing into this canal is not suitable for direct consumption and is always treated at the respective plants, such as those in Mitrovica, Vushtrri and Shkabaj in Pristina, prior to the use of liquor”.
For this reason, we consider that prior to issuing such statements, it would be best to consult preliminary with the National Public Health Institute (IKSHP), as the most creditable institution in this area. A statement based on verified information and issued by the IKSHP would have had more credibility and would avoid creating uncertainty in citizens”, the party's response is said to be further.
On the other hand, the AAK asked Kurti Government in this period, according to them, to increase co-operation with field experts and to focus on building a secure and professional management system for critical infrastructure.
The citizens should be informed with precision and silence, providing a transparent and responsible approach. Only through professional engagement and institutional co-operation can the safety and well-being of citizens” be guaranteed, the AAK said.
Last Friday, the Iber-Lepenci Canal was attacked with explosives, with about 15kg of explosives. Ten people have been arrested for this terrorist attack so far, where two have been taken into custody.
