Likewise, the neighbouring state, Finland, has launched a website with similar calls, reports AFP news agency.

Both Sweden and Finland have renounced the neutrality they have maintained for decades, and have joined the NATO military alliance, as Russia began the war in Ukraine in February 2022.

Since the start of the war, Stockholm has repeatedly called on Swedes to prepare both mentally and logistically for the possibility of war, citing the serious security situation in the vicinity.

The “guide if we face crisis or war”, launched by the Swedish Civil contingent Agency, contains information on how residents should prepare for emergencies like war, natural disasters and cyberattacks.

The guide is a updated version of the pamphlet Sweden has released five times since World War II.

The preliminary version, launched in 2018, has been the first to be sent to Swedes since 1961, the Cold War.

“The security situation is serious and we need to strengthen the sustainability of facing crisis or even some fight”, Michael Friselle of the Swedish Civil Controversials Agency has said.

The guide also mentions how food and water should be provided.

The agency has said that the updated 2024 roadmap focuses on war preparation.

In the next two weeks, the guide is expected to accept 5.2 million homes in Sweden.

The guide has been prepared in Swedish and several other languages.

On Monday, the Government in Finland, which shares a 1,340-mile border with Russia, has launched a website with information on residents' preparation for various crises.

The war in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin calls war “special military operation” to demilitarise Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, striking the economy of this state with severe sanctions.

As a result of the war, thousands have died, and millions of others have been displaced from their homes. /Radio Europe Free
