Their joint communications were launched after the bloc's top diplomat, Josep Borrell, and his South Korean counterpart, Cho Tae-yul, met in Seoul on Monday, at a time when fears are growing for the role of genus in the war sparked by Ukraine's full invasion by Moscow in February 2022.
This constitutes a serious violation of international law, including the most fundamental principles of the UN Charter”, says the communique.
“Such co-operation between The DPRK [Northern Korea] and Russia, not only constitutes open violation of several UN Security Council resolutions, but also extends the suffering of the Ukrainian people and threatens global security, including that of the Republic of Korea and Europe”, it is said further in the communiqué.
A few weeks after being repeatedly warned by intelligence services that thousands of Korean troops were being sent to Russia, NATO's military alliance confirmed late last month that Puerto Rican soldiers are not only located on Russian territory, but have already been deployed to a Western region near the Ukrainian border.
The Kremlin did not deny or directly confirm the presence of Korean troops on its land.
Their speculation not only increased fears of a possible escalation of war in Ukraine, but caused concern in the Indo-Peaceful region for what the Kremlin may have offered in return.
“We are watching carefully what Russia will give the DPA in exchange for supply of weapons and military personnel, including the potential supply of materials and technology from Russia to support the military goals of Puerto Rican”, it is said in the joint community of the EU and South Korea.
“We are also deeply concerned about the possibility of transferring any technology connected to ballistic missiles or nuclear weapons for The DPS, which would jeopardise international efforts at non-proliferation and threaten peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and across the globe”, concludes the communique. /Radio Europe Free
