”Budget 2025” The opposition against VV, hoping to pass

The 2025 budget bill is expected to be considered in principle today at the Kosovo Assembly session. In the ruling party, Vetevendosje Movement, say the majority in the Assembly has enough votes for adopting the first-read budget. On the other hand, opposition parties express themselves against this budget, as they say it is not developmental and does not meet citizens' needs and requirements.

On November 4th, following the PDK's PDK opposition headship meeting, the AAK's LDK has warned they will not vote on the Kosovo draft budget for next year, which is projected to be 3.6 billion euros.

LDK Parliamentary Group chief Arben Gashi, after the Assembly of the Parliamentary Court said they will not vote on the budget for 2025, Periscope reports.

Gashi said the Kurti government has committed legal violations.

We don't vote the budget. We'll give him our remarks. This budget has two problems. The first concerns budget intervention in the Law for Salaries in the public sector. The second is that they try to do it with the law on real estate tax. The same is true because the specific law interferes with a temporary law of character. Both are legal violations and have wrongly approved them and Kurt is trying to change them with a temporary law and is scandalous intervention”, Gashi said.

PDK GP chief Abelard Tahiri on Facebook wrote that the budgets approved over the years by the current government have left no trace, no developmental or welfare or economics.

The” today at the Assembly of the Parliament's Headship was scheduled for Monday's November 11th, to be brought for budget approval for 2025. The budgets approved over years by the current government have left no trace, no development, no welfare or economics. Being fully convinced that Kosovo can best, we will not vote on this budget. Hope, well-being and commitment to better Kosovo will reflect on the budget for next year, the government that will be out of the February elections, with Prime Minister Bedri Hamza”, wrote Tahiri on Facebook.

Even AAK Parliamentary Group Chief Besnik Tahiri has said that next year's budget confirms the drowning of economic development.

This government's “budget is the budget which confirms the drowning of economic development. It's a budget that has buried hope to 80 thousand people working in the state, is a budget that we will strongly dispute, and it's a budget that needs to be revised in March of next year. This law cannot even improve. To improve, there must at least be from 50 referrals that would be regulated from wages to minor issues. We don't vote on the budget”, Tahiri has declared.

But, from the ruling party, the Vetevendosje Movement has said they have the parliamentary majority to vote on the Republic budget for next year.

VV) Parliamentary Group head Mimoza Kusari-Lila has said that “is nothing new that the opposition, at least LDK and AAK, have said they will not vote the draft for 2025.

She said they have the votes to approve the draft budget.

“actually if you look at the opposition parties' pattern in any of the approvals that have occurred in this legislature, and this is the fourth in a row, the opposition has not participated. We have the parliamentary majority as you have seen last week at the simple polls we manage to adopt laws and other decisions, while for the opposition I have what to say, they have determined and put on another path. It's a matter of decision making”, she said.

The Kosovo government on October 30th has approved the draft budget for next year, worth 3 billion and 600m euros, or about 300m euros larger than in 2024.

With this project, 930m euros are planned for capital investments.

While 916.5m euros are expected to go for salaries, including a 55-euro increase for every public sector employee from January, while 110 euros from July.

Also, 105m euros go towards essential drugs and necessary health materials. / P ERISCOPI/
