Albanian personalities, representatives of the New York community's organisations and Albanians participated in the event.
The programme included speeches by Mark Gjonaj, former member of the Municipal Council, and Kristi Marmorato, member of the City Council for District 13, which thanked the Albanian community for the inspiration it offers.
During the ceremony, awards were shared for celebrities such as Vera Doctor, political analyst, renowned photographer Fadil Berisha and activist Esat Gjonbalaj.
Alexander Nilaj and his volunteer group, as well as several other members of the Albanian community, were also honoured with gratitude by local authorities, the Sun newspaper reports.

The guests enjoyed traditional Albanian dishes and gathered in an environment decorated with the flags of Albania, Kosovo and the US, celebrating this historic event.
