The White House has given priority to maintaining a stable competitive advantage over China, while limiting a deeply dangerous Russia, it broadcasts Telegrafi.
During his speech to the cadets of the US Air Force Academy on November 12th, Kendall said his most fundamental objective as Air Force Department head is “to instill a sense of urgency” regarding the need to prepare for the next war that “may have to fight”.
“Fighting China or Russia is not impossible, it can happen at any time”, he told the cadets.
Last week, the commander of the US Army in the Indo-Peace region, Admiral Samuel Paparo, warned his forces that “should be nearly”, after China held the largest occupation exercise around Taiwan -- a self-government island that Beijing views as its territory.
While Russia has demonstrated its readiness to use force against neighbouring countries, it seriously considered using nuclear weapons after facing changes in Ukraine, Kendall said.
The potential for use of nuclear weapons became as real as I ever experienced”, he added.
