The truce between Israel and Hezbollah went into effect at 4: 00 a.m. on Wednesday, ending the fighting that lasted about 14 months in the border area between Lebanon and Israel.
Under the deal, which the Israeli cabinet approved Tuesday evening, the ceasefire is expected to last 60 days as a transitional period during which the Israeli army will withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon, while the Lebanese Army will deploy 5,000 troops south of the Litan River, including troops at 33 points along the border with Israel, the paper reports. “The Times of Israel”.
Hezbollah forces will leave the southern part of Lebanon, while the group's military infrastructure will be dismantled.
No copies of the truce agreement have been published before it entered into force.
While Hezbollah has said it accepts the ceasefire proposal, a senior group official said Tuesday that Hezbollah still had to see the deal in its final form.
However, the ceasefire seemed to be being respected Wednesday morning, while in Beirut there were holiday signs, a day after Israel carried out the most intense wave of air strikes in the Lebanese capital since the start of fighting.
