Holland at this meeting has said that the United Kingdom shared the assessment made in the Report of the disturbing lack of progress in normalising the report between Kosovo and Serbia, the lack of what continues to have negative implications even in everyday citizens' lives and for the stability of the entire Western Balkan region.
The British ambassador has said he welcomes the government's recent decision on removing the border measure for Serbia's goods, viewing it as a positive step to free trade.
“In this context, we welcome the Kosovo Government's recent decision to lift entry ban on Serbian goods as a positive step towards enabling free trade throughout the Western Balkans, and giving citizens across the region the opportunity to reap economic benefits from closer access to their European neighbours”, Holland has said, reports The Express.
Holland has said the United Kingdom continues to call on Kosovo and Serbia to engage constructively in the process of facilitated negotiations by the EU and meet the obligations they have received, including the establishment of the Association of Serb Majorities.
In this speech, Holland has said that the United Kingdom has been clear to all co- talkers that any action affecting the well-being of Kosovo Serbs and other non-plete communities requires consultation with Kosovo friends and security partners to avoid tensions.
The United Kingdom will continue to encourage Kosovo to ensure that non-US communities can play a full and equal role in the country's future. We have been clear with all the conversationators that any action affecting the well-being of Kosovo Serbs and other non-communication communities requires careful consultation with Kosovo's friends and security partners, to avoid the inflammatory of tensions and to disparage the most vulnerable”, the British ambassador to the OSCE has said.
All non-US communities should be free to exercise their democratic rights and further integrate into Kosovo society. We continue to encourage Kosovo Serbs to participate in the democratic process, take on roles in public service, and serve their communities”, he added further, Express reports.
He has also said it is important to ensure justice and accountability for all acts of violence, including Basjska.
“We continue to call on Serbia to co-operate fully with efforts to bear responsibility for the shocking attack on Banjska in September 2023 and NATO KFOR troops in May 2023, and act to deal with cross-border arms smuggling”, Holland has said.
In the end, Holland has said that the United Kingdom remains a long and strong supporter of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state. We are committed to supporting a comprehensive, diverse and multiethnic democracy in Kosovo and its full participation in the international system”.
