UN Security Council (KSOKB) today will discuss UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres' new six-month report on the work of the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).

According to Guterres' report published days ago by the Serbian media, the atmosphere in Kosovo is still tense and when the risk of escalation of tensions exists.
In the report on the period from March 16th to September 15th, 2024, which will be presented at the session by UNMIK head Caroline Ziadeh, Guterres called on both sides to confirm their commitment to dialogue under EU auspices and to fully implement previous agreements.
Since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 on June 10, 1999, this body has discussed Kosovo four times a year until 2018. Three UN Security Council sessions were held in 2019 for Kosovo, while two sessions, in April and October, are held annually by 2020.
Kosovo is represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore of the Republic of KosovoC, Donika Grovalla, she is headed for New York.
The news has been made known by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora.
“During this session, Minister Grovall will reveal the achievements of the Republic of Kosovo in various areas, including the process of democratisation, economic development, community rights and the current situation in northern Kosovo municipalities.”, the announcement said.
According to the announcement, Gervala will also talk about Serbia's destabilising actions and the challenges they present for peace and stability in the region.
